Bottle

The bottle research stage didn’t require much research because… following our gender reveal that occurred around week 24, we received a starter pack of Tommee Tippee bottles (closer to nature) as a gift from NS+TN. The gender reveal was a bit delayed. But we weren’t in a rush to find out. We already decided that there was no need for a baby shower as well. We weren’t planning to have one. We were just going for the gender reveal and be done with it.

I just had this idea that the whole idea of planning a baby shower 1 month prior to having the baby can just… sorta be too stressful or create unnecessary stress that may cause the baby to arrive sooner than expected. Just a thought. 1. From seeing in in a show somewhere. 2. My co-worker mentioned that hers was very stressful to plan on her own.

I did have one though. One that I didn’t plan, from my co-workers. :] [a later post here]

With the gift set, we just decided that we were going to give it a try. If it didn’t work out, we would then research and get other ones. It was already there. We already had it.

The alternatives that I had in mind but did not have to get were between the glass Philips Avent (?) bottles (which I’m glad I didn’t get because once the child learned how to hold it himself, it would’ve ended up on the ground one too many times) and the silicone Comotomo bottles. Those were kind of the back-ups that we didn’t have to get to.

The Comotomo was suggested by KD. She said that’s one that she would get if she were to have another child. (And I believe she did for her 3rd! At the time, she had her 2nd and her 2nd was 3.)

Ended up using the Tommee Tippee for the entire 14 months. With some minor adjustments to the nipple part. We ended up replacing all the 1s that it came with to 0s (extra slow flow) and never switched back.

It helped with him finishing the 2-3oz of milk, that he would take every few hours, from ever so quickly within 5 minutes and crying for more… to about double the time, falling asleep while drinking the 1 bottle every now and then, and uhm… yeah.

We ended up increasing the number of bottles. Bought a few of the single first feed bottles that included the extra slow flow and the little milk container. Also, got a set of 6 colorful 9oz ones for when he got a little older and taking more of the formula too.

(As I’m typing this up and sorta researching, I see that Tommee Tippee now has a silicone version… may consider that the next time around!)

Some other bottle related accessories:
Bottle warmer: Kinde bottle warmer (on sale during prime day… one time) – Tommee Tippee bottle warmer (might’ve used this with the other one, but the other one more until unfreezing milk?)
Bottle drying rack: Oxo drying rack
Bottle Cleaning Brush: Oxo Tot Bottle Brush with Nipple cleaner
– Boon Silicone Bottle Brush – Insulated

Bought but didn’t exactly use or not as often:
– Tommee Tippee insulated bottle bad and bottle cooler (used Jujube ones more)
– A bottle… heat cleaner thing. Ended up just boiling in a pot of hot water to initially clean and a deep cleaning every once in awhile.

&… can’t forget about initially handwashing everything; THEN, switching to dishwasher daily washes. Sometimes even just a half filled one just so that it doesn’t get contaminated.
