Sippy Cup Transition

The sippy cup transition was a task in itself. Drinking from a bottle from birth to about 2 months after turning a year… when we fully transitioned out!

The first sippy cup that we bought, following some research, was the Munchkin 365. A paw patrol sippy cup that was on sale. :] (I didn’t even know what Paw Patrol was at the time.) I bought it in advance knowing that eventually we would get to sippy cup stage. When we finally introduced the cup to him, at around 9 months, he just couldn’t use it! For water. So we were back to square one… and having to figure out what would work. Ended up getting the following ones along the way… until he was able to use it the 2nd time around:

Munchkin Splash Toddler Cup with Training Lid (this one was a temporary fix that we got so that he can have a cup!)
Pura bottle (didn’t use this one too much… after we got the Re-play cups and definitely not after the Munchkin transition was good to go.)
Re-Play No Spill Sippy Cup – 2 pack (these turned out to be the best until we re-introduced the Munchkin 360 and he was able to use it! Then, it was a combo of this and the Munchkin 360.)

Around 13 months, the Re-play cup with its no spill function… was great for water during our trip to Paris. We’d buy water bottles from the grocery stores and put it in his cup for him. He loved water! Since all he knew was milk… then milk and water.

Around 14 months, we reintroduced the Munchkin 360. This time, with milk. It was a success! And so… we’ve been using the Munchkin 360 and Re-play bottles since.

Once the 360 was a success, we just ended up getting more of it. The small size, then the bigger size, and 3 stainless steel ones for water. The stainless steel ones we got around 24 months for him to take to school with a blue masking tape label that we put on it. The cup was mixed with the little cup with the handles for easy… access and drinking. :]

Eventually, he started having some juice. Then, we would either use the Re-play without the no spill stopper in it or the Munchkin 360 with the separately sold Munchkin Sippy and Straw Lid that we can use in place of the sippy top.

Around 3 years, we purchased a junior Yeti Rambler for short outings to visit the family. By now, he’s able to hold onto the handle of the bottle and even open and close the spout on his own.

The bottle, when we’re normally heading out for a few hours, is filled with a drink (orange juice or apple juice) with ice. Sometimes with just ice and either the apple juice or Horizon Milk that I can open and pour into the Yeti. Once in awhile, water.

We also have the regular 20oz Yeti Rambler with lid and straw attachment that we use for smoothies made at home.

At 4 years, we still do or have the following:

Munchkin 360 for about 2 bottles of milk (the 7oz one); we no longer have the regular 10oz for milk. 1 following breakfast plus any additional one throughout the day.
Munchkin 360 with a lid and glass straw and/or Re-play (when we’re out of 360s) for juice; every once in awhile, a regular 8oz glass with a straw.
20oz Yeti rambler for smoothie
Junior Yeti for outings
– Every now and then, a regular 8oz glass with a glass straw

But we have been slowly discarding the 360s. :] Had plenty at 1 point. Possibly, 3-4 sets of 7oz cups, 2 sets of 10oz, and 3 stainless steel 10 oz.
